Though everybody's suffering is unique, and thus not fully understandable to others, in my own life I have suffered enough in the same <I>sort</I> of way to appreciate what you're saying and sympathize. Your observations about why people often "blame the victim" are right on target.<BR/><BR/>Still, the question remains whether, and if so in what sort of way, it is appropriate to blame people for suffering mental illness. Descriptions of NPD, for example, strike me more as descriptions of evil than of illness; or, if NPD really is an illness, it is one that the ill person might be thought to be choosing. The same goes for depression: unless brain chemistry can be identified as the originating cause, the question arises whether the person is in some measure morally responsible for letting themselves get into such a state.<BR/><BR/>I don't have a definitive answer to such questions, but they are at least worth discussing.Mike Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18100363229707213441noreply@blogger.com
