Taking a leadership position or teaching is another matter, and they definitely should not be doing either of those.Amyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03828003230553672867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14300599.post-1141608894901155302006-03-05T20:34:00.000-05:002006-03-05T20:34:00.000-05:00Charles:Having been employed by the Church myself,...Charles:

Having been employed by the Church myself, I agree that most progs in a similar position have little hope of actually working for ECUSA. But some would join anyhow, earning their living with an NGO or one of countless other organizations with an agenda similar to ECUSA's. And in any case, most progs don't work for the Church. Joan Venocchi is far more typical of them.

As for those "attached to their parishes"—well, I see a lot of parish-hopping among Catholics of all stripes. The parish I most recently belonged to is next door to a typical ECUSA church. There is some crossover in both directions, but the Catholic parish is not especially prog. If it were, I think we'd see more from ours to theirs, if only because of marriage issues.

Best,
MikeMike Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18100363229707213441noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14300599.post-1141592786102833072006-03-05T16:06:00.000-05:002006-03-05T16:06:00.000-05:00Their religion is like the Episcopal Church transl...Their religion is like the Episcopal Church translated into their historically working-class, non-Anglo-Saxon culture, which also explains why more of them don't switch: they don't like WASP manners and high culture (including high churchmanship) even if one gets to be theologically loony.

The Liberal Catholic Church is an interesting creature: liturgically they're more like me than these jokers. But theologically they're more like Shirley MacLaine.Ecgberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06354592772973677609noreply@blogger.com
