We can only imagine how things might have worked out differently had Leo X demonstrated such qualities rather than being nasty and kicking butt, which he unarguably did.

More than anything, I hope for the reconciliation with SSPX. That itself might take care of some the "prog" issues.Terryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01956945602119743499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14300599.post-1145632651795730142006-04-21T10:17:00.000-05:002006-04-21T10:17:00.000-05:00Greetings from Dar al-Islam,It would be a direct a...Greetings from Dar al-Islam,

It would be a direct and complete violation of the spirit of Islam to accord equal rights to Christians and Jews as to Muslims. Christians and Jews are allowed to remain in Islamic lands because they retain certain aspects of truth: monotheistic religion, belief in the resurrection, and the day of judgment.

Let me also point out that the question of wether or not Jews and Christians are a minority is insignificant. Even if the land is only 1% Muslim, but that 1% is Muslim, then Christians and Jews (and at one opint Zoroastrians in Persia) must be accorded status of dhimmitude. Thus the language of respecting the rights of religious "minorities" is misleading or dishonest.

In conclusion, when Islamic governments sign things like the Human Rights Charter it is understood that God is the source of all true rights and that charter of human rights is necesarilly inferior to God's revealed law in the Qu'ran, Ahadith, and Shari9.

Peace be with you on this (Orthodox) Good Friday.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14300599.post-1145632500194641402006-04-21T10:15:00.000-05:002006-04-21T10:15:00.000-05:00All these is just more hot air when they're not ac...All these is just more hot air when they're not accompanied by concrete disciplinary action against those Catholics, especially clerics (especially bishops) who publicly dissent from these teachings.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14300599.post-1145632349290700702006-04-21T10:12:00.000-05:002006-04-21T10:12:00.000-05:00Amen. What I am no longer is an orthodox Catholic who thinks the Pope should kick more butt.
